Page 36 of the user manual goes through how to connect. From what I can tell you need the jlip software here near the bottom of the page.

We never downloaded anythjng from the camera b4 except from the dv side of it and it seems to do that automatically, just a bitch finding where it puts it. We never downloaded the tape to the pc.
